Moratel - Updates

Just found something related to Moratel and its new cable MBDC, that might be of our interest :-D

• It seems that the branch to Melaka will also be installed in the near future (if not immeadiately); in several reports, Moratel uses BDM term (Batam-Dumai-Melaka) instead of MBDC
• Length: 500 km (seems, incl. branch to Melaka)
• Investment: USD 40 mn
• GMSL is on the board! (Subcon from Triasmitra??)
• Installation target: Batam-Dumai (08/2009); Dumai-Melaka (09/2009)
• Inland segment: Dumai-Palembang-Lampung-Kalianda-Anyer-Jakarta (08/2009)

Moratelindo's Network

The following pictures illustrate the network operated by Moratelindo. Sure, they mustn't necessarily own the transmission infrastructure. However, it seems that they "slow" but sure try to build their own lines. In addition to MIC-1 and MBDC, recently they also claimed: they just finished their Java backbone development last year. If it's true, then they shall currently have a (completely or slightly) different Java backbone compared to that in the picture below. Why ? You know lah I guess .. :-D

Moratel + XL + FIC/SCAN ?

I unintentionally found a picture below. It could be just an illustration. But it could also be a real plan :-D ... To my guess, it looks similar to the current Excelcomindo + Moratelindo networks combined with the new FIC SCAN system. How good is my guess? What do you think? :-D

Moratelindo Batam Dumai Cable (MBDC) System

Now it is official! Moratel has silently revealed that they currently prepare Batam Dumai undersea cable system. The project is named "Moratelindo Batam - Dumai Cable" (MBDC). It shall extend their international connection via MIC-1 system to Sumatra mainland and from there to other domestic locations.

Moratelindo Batam Dumai Cable :

• Capacity: 12 FP; @ 8 Lambda
• Length: 380 km
• Landing points: Batam, Dumai
• Branching to Melaka/Malaysia prepared
• Contractors : NSW (cable vendor), PT. Ketrosden Triasmitra (main contractor)
• Construction : 10 months; RFS target August/2009

Exploring Moratelindo

Moratelindo (PT. Mora Telematika Indonesia) offers Internet services using "CepatNet" brand. Whether CepatNet is a separate company inside the same group is for me rather unclear .. :-D. However, Moratel's Internet connections happen through CEPATNET (AS23947). The following ASes are upstream peers from Moratel/CepatNet network (CIDR):

New Indonesian Cable : XL's or Moratel's ?

I've just "incidentally" found a hint for a new cable as I was delivered to a webpage from Moratel's official Mr. Par. It could answer some rumors I've mentioned previously. :-D Somebody can confirm this ?

MIC-1

The MIC-1 (Moratelindo International Cable - One) is a new undersea optical cable owned by the youngest national backbone operator Moratelindo (Moratel). It links Batam to Changi (Singapore) and was scheduled to start the service by Q1/2008. Moratel's partner at SG side is ViewQuest (does anybody know about this company?). An SG-partner other than SingTel is rare :-) ! Moratel is a quite progressive backbone operator. Its market share of revenue would possibly be larger than ICON+ for this year.
